Early reports say it sold 40k on launch. Limited release, parts supply issues, etc.

For a product with a reported $400m marketing budget, this is a botched launch.

In comparison, Google said last month that it was selling 200,000 Android phones a day. And Apple has said that its iPhone sales rate was 270,000 a day.

But give it time. Android didn't exactly explode out of the gates either and it's doing great now. The question is how much room is there for Win7 phones when there are already 2 well established smart phone brands available.

Well most people who have a phone don't have a smart phone. So I would say theres a lot of room for them if they can convince these people to buy. In any case the funny thing with the Android numbers is that the manufacturers like HTC, LG, Samsung etc are balkanising the OS. They are making it so that it isn't 200k Android handsets, its say 67k HTC, 40k LG, 30k Samgsung etc as phone manufacturers look to customise the look of their Android devices.

Tease.
