Well one good way to get started is to simply create something. Something you can put in a portfolio or simply anything that will expand your knowledge of the gaming industry even further. You could make a podcast on gaming, make a fansite, just make something and roll with it. One way to get started.
It would also be an option to start working in Quality Assurance as a game tester. It's a vital role and a good way to get your foot in the door.
