World War 2 obviously happened.

The war in the Middle East happened/happening.

The Cold War happened.

Everything they have done so far has had a realistic feel because something similar is actually happening or has happened.

So you believe that Aliens aren't fighting and screwing each others spaceships?

Of course they are. And the next CoD will be about that war.
