I too as a layman in these things am absolutely amazed at this feat. just thinking about the mathematical calculations and research needed to generate these conditions is mind boggling. i'm sure its 100% safe, and they've been doing it for i think a year now and nothing disasterious has happened yet, so imo these scientists know its safe.

Well 100% safe is probably not true, any number of things in any instance could go wrong. But yes I don't think it'll be the end of humanity like many doom and gloom naysayers said. But such scrutiny is very helpful to keep people on their toes even if it is baseless. Theres nothing wrong with making extra precautions, especially when dealing with such forward looking science.
