| KichiVerde said: Dune is definitely the best sci-fi book ever though the quality of the books worsened as the series went on. But the first entry in the series is a masterpiece. To put it simply The Lord of The Rings is its equivalent in the realm of fantasy. It's not just a story but a world in which the reader becomes engrossed, and even after decades the novel still holds up. |
I'm sure I'll annoy people saying this but I just don't agree with the Lord of the Rings comparison. The Lord of the Rings is one of those books which everyone tells me is great, I know I should like, but it just bores me beyond words! No comparison with Dune!
Maybe I'm just biased because of the long and boring LOTR films though...

"There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."
"Watchmen" is far better than The Dark Knight / Why does no-one own this wonderful game: Fragile Allegiance? / Speak (Type) Italian to me!
