Chrono would be fine if they could get all the old crew back, but that's not going to happen (even if Kato is an INCREDIBLY talented story writer). Mana MIGHT need some work since Dawn of Mana was HORRENDOUS. Tactics and VS would be fine since most of their old team is still around (and Matsuno is back) even if VS has a problem of probably needing to make a story without Ashley (though Ashley's development was DONE at the end of VS, so maybe they shouldn't worry about that). As for NIER, it wasn't a BAD game but it had a near-universal "meh" associated with it critically and was quickly forgotten. T3B on the other hand also has the stupid idea that somehow ignoring the ENTIRE PREMISE of its predecessors is somehow a good thing (especially considering the premise was NOT made by Square). Plus from what I've seen and read in previews it doesn't even seem like the gameplay is going to redeem it (note to Square: YOU SUCK AT SHOOTERS) |
Yeah, Matsuno is back, but we just dont know if hes going to be heading up any projects. hopefully he will be with his old team. i doubt Chrono would happen, but imo, they shouldnt do it unless they can get the 'Dream Team' back to do it. i think that games like VS should remain timeless classics, while it would be nice to have a sequels/ reboots, it also nice those talented developers do something different.
having playe Nier, i agree it was medoicure, still havent finished it. well i think Kitase and Toriyama are heavily involved in T3B, so i have no idea if their addition will help the project. its a shooter on the PSP, which is the wrong platform anyway, not to mention the controls cant be as good as console based shooters, so already at a disadvantage imo. and so far all i've heard is about Aya clothes coming off..... i doubt PE was about that before.... though i'm not dismissing it.
