Yeah, Primesense may have approached Apple before Microsoft, but from what I understand 3DV (Primesense's Israeli competiton) showed their Z-cam tech to all of the big three (not sure about Apple) back in '07 before its public debut at CES 2008. And yes, all three passed due to the aforementioned reasons. Later, Microsoft teamed with Primesense and aquired 3DV and Z-cam to ensure legal rights for their then 'Project Natal'.
