Seriously, HOME is not going to be the next big thing, no chance, Sony has designed a product for a market segment they don't even exist in yet, the casual market. You must think all females and casual gamers are simpletons as well if they are going to come to the PS3 in droves for a laughable IM system, a "design your own room" that they'll get sick of in about 5 minutes and a trophy case (which they won't use because the PS3's casual lineup is a joke). HOME would have been a more viable option in Late 09 or even 10, when they have cut prices to a point that would attract every day consumers. I love it how PS3 fanboys think that just because they're gaining a +% growth in sales, means they will be a runaway success. Common sense dictates that sales will plateau at some point, yet they seem to think that they'll surpass the 360 in 08 and somehow the wii in 09. By that logic, it would mean that both Microsoft and Nintendo would have to pull all their console stock from the market AND stop production for the year for sony to accomplish that. Even then I doubt Sony would have caught up Remember the old saying "Lightning doesn't strike twice?" |
Lets just see how Home does. For one, players will meet up in game to play other games. They can have clan meetings, hold events, have parties. You have no idea what you could do with a community. I run a successful guild in UO and I know that when you run player events have meet ups etc it creates a deeper community.
Imagine a warhawk clan meet up. Talk about strategies, talk with other clans to start matches. That is where Home is going to rule. So just wait and see the potential. It's going to change gaming as we know it.
