For the people on here saying it is no big deal.  I'm glad because it means you haven't experienced anything approaching the terror of a mob lynching.  I haven't either, so I'm not making a moral judgement.

If a black man or woman over 60, from the south, were to tell me it is not a big deal, then I'll agree with you.

You would be able to find someone who would tell you that.  However, that's not really a good reason to agree it's not a big deal.

My thoughts are as follows

A) Why the heck would anyone dress like that?

B) Who the hell would give them first place.

C) Why the hell would the police be able to press charges about this?  The fact that the police apparently can press charges about this thing makes me glad I don't live in canada.

they cant.  one of them(the one in blackface iirc) is a retired police officer even.

Oh good, thought maybe they could justify it under one of the hate crime laws.

I think the whole thing is a big deal, but not news worthy... should of been people AT the party saying "Hey that's not cool" and that shoulda been it.
