I have two female friends who played and liked the game a lot (and neither of them has their own PS3). That was before Move too.
There might be quite some truth to it, and if my parents had a PS3 I would probably get my mum the game, she watches a lot of crime programmes, reads the sort of books etc. It's not like women can't take any sort of violence. Though I have no idea how much violence the game has really, only played the demo.
