I think the biggest fear a lot of us have (especially over on gaf, where people are already writing the game off, declaring they won't buy it) is that the Killzone 2 beta was incredibly far along when it was released.  It was excellently balanced, had few glitches or other issues, and all around just played great.  There were almost no major tweaks from beta to release, aside from GUI stuff, as none were needed.

In fact, the only notable change I can remember actually made the game worse.  They turned friendly fire off by default (vs on in the beta) to appease all the people that can't aim.  This lead to rocket spamming, which lead to people banning the assault class, which lead to overpowered turrets/bots given there was no longer an effective counter.  One small change altered the balance of the game considerably.

Killzone 3 just seems so incredibly rough compared to the KZ2 beta, and I think people are scared this is how the game will end up being when it launches in a few months.
