Try to guess which ones.
Hint: Most games under 500k (ports under 250k) |
I wrote a post earlier this week about how much games cost to make. I have read that most "Average"(R&C/Uncharted I believe are above average titles) PS3 and 360 titles cost average $ 15 million(this data from a recent BBC article) to make. If you include marketing, that is a whole different animal. Game developers make roughly $15-$20 off of each copy sold from most places I researched. Even at a high profit return(assume the Dev gets $20 per game) it would average for a game to sell 750k (if they have NO marketing what so ever) to break even. The 500k number gets thrown around but I havent seen much evidence backing it up.
There are a lot of games losing money at the moment for the PS3/XBOX platform, but they will turn a profit in time. If you notice games are taking a lot longer to drop in price now a days, most likely due to their profit turning timetable bueing much longer.
Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.
Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.
