It's more of my gaming preferences rather than philosophy, but in mid-2008, my gaming tastes had a monumental shift.
Firstly, I played Final Fantasy III and started to love RPGs, before I had only played the Pokemon games. From that point on I have played the rest of the numbered FF games, all the FF tactics games, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, all Paper Mario games, Secret of Mana, Shining Force, Tales of Symphonia, Dragon Quest IV, V and IX, Skies of Arcadia, both Golden Sun games, both Dark Cloud, Ogre Battle 64 and Star Ocean: TLH. RPGs are now my favourite genre by far.
Secondly, I broadened my horizons beyond Mario/Pokemon/Metroid/Zelda/Smash Bros, which formed the majority of my gaming collection at that point. I started playing RPGs as I mentioned above, I bought Okami as well, my first Megaman game - 9, Gunstar Heroes, Street Fighter and Little Big Planet around that time.
