He doesn't have a very exuberant introduction. Terra/Ven/Aqua appear on The Land of Departure and while they're walking in the summit, the Mysterious Figure just appears and challenges him/her without saying a word.

And when he loses, he just phases out of existence, like he's moving into another place in time. 

This fight is all too similar to the fight in KH:FM, where Sora faces an Unknown hooded character who also doesn't say a word when he appears/disappears, which was later revealed to be Xenmas, in KH2.

So probably, KH:BBS's Mysterious Figure also has a rather large importance to KH lore in future games.

He does indeed, it bugs me to no end that we will have to wait a couple of years to know more xD. I don't expect to see a new KH (lore wise, since both Coded and KH 3DS are set on the time frame of KH1) in the next 3-4 years.

so we won't know any more to KH3 any thoughts to whom it might or might not be

There have been some theories going around in KH related sites. One of the most mentioned theories is that it's somehow connected to Luxord, since Luxord also had the ability to manipulate time. 

Another theory is that the Mysterious Figure is actually a complete form (when both a Heartless, Nobody and Lingering Spirit are combined) from either Xehanort or even Eraqus.

Heck, there are even theories that the Mysterious Figure is somehow related to DiZ as well xD.
