Ghost of Sparta 'pushes PSP to breaking point'
God of War: Ghost of Sparta will max out your PSP, according to developer Ready At Dawn's co-founder Ru Weerasuriya.
We sat down with Weerasuriya and asked how the development team had managed to make sure the latest God of War PSP game even came close to its PS3 counterpart.
"Pretty much by brining the PSP to a breaking point," he responded.
"It was about trying to push things on the PSP that it wasn't necessarily designed for, trying to exploit every single possible avenue the PSP provided for us."
Weerasuriya said that PSP Kratos uses the same model for Kratos in the PS2 games and that Ghost of Sparta has full screen effects, depth of field, bloom and weather.
"A lot of things we've done you'd expect on PS2 or PS3. In fact, when we developed this game we did it as a God of War game, not a PSP game, it put us in a mind frame to make it look good."
When asked whether Ready At Dawn had pushed the PSP to it's maximum capability, Weerasuriya said he thought it had.
"I think we have, we've looked in every single nook and cranny inside the PSP and tried to figure out what we can take out of it and at this point I think we've leveraged 100% of the power of the PSP."
If you want to see just how much God of War can do on the PSP, take a look at the Ghost of Sparta trailer that was released last week.
Look out for our God of War: Ghost of Sparta interview towards the end of the week, just before the game hits shelves on Friday.
