how bout 3d dot game heroes

I thought the game was amazing and helped me re-enjoy the simpleness of games.  You should replay it on the hardest difficulty afterwards, thought the script was funny when making fun of the main character. (You'll know what i mean if/when you do try it on the hardest difficulty)
