Regarding pizza, I guess there is enough of a change in the typical pizza you'd buy/order in the US compared to what you'd get in Italy. Though I don't doubt there is also Italian pizza in the US.

The usual toppings differ a lot, and the dough probably does too. Though sadly I've never had pizza in Italy that was from a big chain/take-away, and I never had pizza at some small Italian place in the US to really judge well (plus I've only been to NY, and it's supposed to be different there too).
