Instead of hearing "it's a me...a mario" we were hearing people say "give me the fucking gun". Instead of saving Hyrule for the 100th time, we were saving the world from international terroists etc. It was gaming for adults who wanted something with bite...an edge. THAT'S what made the PS1 special and what allowed it to dominate. |
I think this is it. Though I kept a Nintendo loyal, Sony's console offered me what Sega promised: what Nintendon't.
