I believe it's going to happen now that we really seen the numbers and what Move has done, the PS3 is selling number one and is looking to be the number one console for the Holidays. If GT5 releases this year which it should sales are really going to explode.

Sure the PS3 will probably not pass the X360 in actual sold numbers but shipped? I think so.

I doubt the PS3 will outsell the 360 for a single week for a long, LONG time after Kinect launches, but who knows about the ridiculous shipped numbers. They pretty much mean nothing. Every tracker (VGChartz, NPD, Media Create) showed that the PS3 sold far less in the Apr-June 2010 quarter than the previous quarter, but according to Sony it shipped more units. And anyone with any sense knows that there is no way the PS3 shipped 700,000 units more than the 360 this quarter with the release of the Slim, Halo: Reach, etc. It's almost laughable.

Nice way to begin posting, dude. You won't last far that way .

Go check ioi's explanation for the adjusments and learn a bit about how the market works before insulting everyone by posting such BS.

The only BS here is Sony's shipped numbers. Please explain this to me:

Jan-March 2010: According to Sony, PS3 shipped 2.2 million

During that time, PS3 sold 950.9k in NPD,   530k in Media Create = 1.48m North America/Japan.

April-June 2010: According to Sony, PS3 shipped 2.4 million

During that time, PS3 sold 640k in NPD,   310k in Media Create = 950k North America/Japan.

Sony shipped 200,000 more this quarter despite selling 530,000 less in North America and Japan?

Sorry bro, they can't lie about that stuff.

So everyone else lied then? Or are they shipping far more than they're selling, in which case shipped numbers don't really mean anything when comparing it to the 360 because Microsoft don't overship by a million units every quarter!

Sony hasn't overshipped by anything, the numbers just weren't tracked properly at the time. This has been corrected, I'm not sure what you don't get.

So NPD, Media Create, and everyone else tracked the PS3 horribly wrong in the Apr. - Jun 2010 quarter? How can a console ship more units during a quarter in which its selling far less units in every region. Where are all these systems going? Look at the little analysis I posted and you can see it makes no sense.

I shouldn't say Sony lied about how many they shipped, but there's obviously a huge discrepancy between the Sony shipped numbers and every sales tracker, not just VGChartz, however inaccurate this site may be.

Why compare Sony's shipped PS3 numbers, with Microsoft's shipped 360 numbers when there is a huge discrepancy between sold and shipped for the PS3, which is not there for the 360. The 360 has actually sold close to its shipped numbers, while the PS3 hasn't, which means the gap is much bigger than the shipped numbers make it appear.

I'll just spoil it for you now. NPD and Media Create only account for North America and Japan sales. VGChartz has been underestimating PS3 sales in developing nations for almost two years now. The new numbers rectify this. Sony's numbers aren't wrong. Nintendo's numbers aren't wrong. Microsoft's numbers aren't wrong. NPD's numbers aren't wrong, Media Create's numbers aren't wrong.
