I've been gaming for about as long as you have, but I often wonder how much of these golden day retrospectives can be credited to the games and how much can simply be attributed to youth. A lot of younger people feel the same way about the Playstation as you and I feel about the NES.
Does the console really matter? Or does the dominant console of the day simply socialize the youth of the day out of pure ubiquity?
