I always used the sold to retail figure as the most important figure to use. This as this is the only non-estimated realworld data we have for global console sales.
I think to claim there are some 2.2 million more PS3s in stock at retail than 360s reflects bias (that's 4.4 times as many!!!). At times when the PS3 endured mass shortages in Noth America and Europe while the XBox 360 was oversupplied this was still claimed by some...
