For me; I was losing faith in gaming until the PSOne came along, never looked back since.

Yea. Didn't get a PS2 until perhaps 2002. That's when i started buying my own stuff. Back when I wanted a PS1 my mom got me a Genesis. Loved the system but wasn't what I wanted so yea... now I just get everything myself.
