The strength of anime with lots of fighting is having a large cast so they can take turns using their special moves and developing powers so it doesn't become dull.
Early Dragon Ball stuff was cool, though Goku was the strongest everyone had something to contribute. Towards the end of Dragonball Z, it was basically Goku or bust.
Yu Yu Hakusho shows the right way to set up battles in a series like this.

I agree. Although Goku was the best, I was always happier when lesser guys like Yamcha and especially Tien got ther time in the limelight. Adult Trunks was my favorite character out of all of them.
The other guys need to actually DEFEAT something. Mainly, they just served as appetizers until Goku came and cleared house.......

I think the real problem is, humans have a very set limit... so once they hit the wall, they all became irrelevent, sure they could learn a new trick or two, but at the level the saiyans and enemies were skyrocketing... they were screwed.
They need some sort of mystical powerup or Ki breakthrough.
Human's were never the strongest but always got through via their resourcefullness... but eventually the power levels got so high that it didn't help.

I propose Senzu Steroids.Both humans and Saiyans used Senzu beans to great effects; let Bulma genetically alter a Senzu Seed and let Yamcha shit spirit bombs.

Haha, they need something. It's a bit understated how resourcefull humans could be too...
I mean think of the power difference between Kirllin and Nappa... yet Krillin underpowered as he was could of killed Nappa with his Disc even though the saiyans thought at that level nothing could harm them. Luckily for him Vegeta caught on. Same with not needing scouters which pretty much every other race in the Freeza empire needed.
What humans do with so little is neat, it'd be great to see what they could do with more power.
