Heh. My sarcasm detection device is going off, but either way. It does seem like that's what im saying, however, PSP2 has the bonus of being a multi-media device which means I _could_ find a reason to buy it regardless of the specs or games.

But lets dig a little deeper? I have never, not ever, cared about the actual specs of a mobile device. Unwanted 3D adding to costs is a slightly different issue, but rather than using specs as the issue, I care more about library. So far it seems to be 3DS is going to have at least a few '3D' remakes of old title, which interests me none at all. Either I want new titles in specific genres (RPG/RTS) or ports of games from systems entirely defunct, updated graphically perhaps though again 3D is not the upgrade im looking for.

The game library more than anything else will determine the ultimate success of a console, mobile or not. The 3DS is not 'broken'. Rather just like the DS/DSi before it, at launch, there is very little appealing to it, for _me_.

You might note that I also rather have quite a few things to complain about my DS/DSi. It has alot of added cost features, touch being one of them, that I find useless, yet my DS library is about double my PSP library.

Well, in the "for you" area, while it's low on RTS (though it has some interesting TBS), 3DS is basically overflowing with RPG announcements (albeit JP side).  And really, some of the ports even seem to be getting significant visual enhancements too (Zelda, Starfox).

I dunno, it just seems to me in terms of library, 3DS already has so many bases covered that it's almost laughable to really criticize the system at this (still early) stage in terms of it's library.  It's well ahead of where either DS or PSP were at this stage in the game.

Also, 3DS seems like it'll be pretty multimedia focused, much moreso than any previous Nintendo handheld.  Movie/television content is already confirmed, there's camera/photo stuff, like DSi it'll no doubt have music playback, web browser, etc... what do you expect to see PSP2 doing that 3DS won't exactly?

All I know is I looked at launch games and thought: 2nd year.

Somehow I have my doubts about being able to effectively sideload content from my PC, this is nintendo we are talking about. But I may end up being surprised. I would not get my hopes up about the video content on the Nintendo Network just yet. Phones are already matching the resolution of the 3DS, if not the 3D effect or the wideness of the screen. Which means ultimately it will probably not be the portable device I watch stuff on.

The reason I have some hope for the PSP2 is because its not been speced yet. Which means there is potential for them to get it right. They _could_ do a lackluster 'upgrade' to the PSP, or they could wow us with a 720p screen, dual nubs or touch nubs, and do the smart thing by dumping UMD. So until they make the release statement and cruelly dash my dreams, my hopes will carry me aloft.
