Haven't bothered reading every reply so these probably have already been mentioned, butI would like to see Star Wars return to its original style.
By this I mean:
Characters
A focus on characters rather than large scale battles - 4,5,6 were all about the relationships between the protagonists both good and evil. 1,2,3 for me focused way too much on the battles. Yes they are important but I would prefer the sort of balance found in the Lotr.
Lightsaber battles
Taking ep 4 out of the equation as that was GL insisting on using lightsabers like broadswords which didn't work, the darth/luke fights felt much more visceral than anything in the newer films which seemed to be all about doing as many somersaults as possible.
Comic Relief
In the old films, the instances of comic relief were mild and infrequent and came almost entirely from the droids. Something similar should be the case in the new films i.e. no obtuse and in your face slapstick such as Jar Jar especially when you then go and change his personality completely in subsequent films without any explanation instead of just removing him altogether grrrr...... anyway you get my point.
Better casting
Not all of the casting in the newer films was bad. I only really have a problem with the casting of Anakin, both actors btw and to a lesser extent Obi-wan.
Haley Joel Osmond as the young Anakin imo was cast entirely because he had the same hair as Luke Skywalker. Thats the only reason I can come up with for casting him. I don't think I need to go into my reasons for not liking Hayden Christensen(spelling?).
With Obi-Wan I feel that they would have had better luck emulating the great Sir Alec Guiness with someone less well known and less scottish, just my humble opinion.
If the new films are set 1000yrs after there is no reason to be casting people based on genetic similarities so I expect there to be a much higher standard of acting.
