Are the "hit" songs bad and annoying or am I getting old?

Before Gaga/Ke$ha, there was Britney/n*sync. Before that, there was Paul Abdul and Ace of Base. Before that, there were hundreds of terrible synth bands. Continue ad nauseum.

I listen to all of these and yes they are shallow and meaningless but that's the beauty of it! you can enjoy pop and enjoy other  artistic albums

Hey, you don't have to tell me that. I adore pop music, I just don't suffer under the delusion that any of it is great music.

Me neither, I am a pop expert but I listen to "great" music too. That's why I feel like punching people noses when they try to convince me that gaga is "different".
