It's not you. I was really into the music scene a few years ago, all my friends played in bands and we'd go to concerts every weekend. Back then, the underground scene was growing and some of them even hit mainstream and we all thought that the radio would go back to how it was in the early 90's. Some bands made it through like The Wombats, Parkway Drive, Love of Diagrams and so on. The UK was still going strong, but then Australia started to die out, even the popular 'good' bands started to lose popularity like Eskimo Joe, The Sleepy Jacksons, Evermore. Pop made a huge resurgence, the club scene crew stronger and that saw the rise of the Pop horrors like Kesha, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry (Jesus fuckin christ she's hot) and the rest (Miley, Bieber, generic pop singer No. 23). The rap and r'n'b groups caught on really quickly and adapted to the change, a few rock bands tried and failed miserably (Good Charlotte).

Music popularity changes all the time, I wouldn't be surprised if Gaga's career becomes a drugged up painted corpse in the next few years and an older genre makes a come back (hopefully the blues or psychedelic rock).

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.
