The NHL has actually recovered quite well since the lock-out. It was definitely worth it. Unlike the NFL, NHL players were in a strong position of power where idiot GM's would spend more than the team could afford. Teams that were supposed to be making money ... weren't.
I remember back in the day when the Colorado Avalanche power player unit was more expensive than the Canucks whole roster!
The fact that NFL players do not have guaranteed contracts, and that their base salary is significantly lower than the minimum NHL salary is crazy ( though there is a big difference in the size of each team)! How the owners get so much more of the pie than the players is ridiculous.
I think this will definitely damage the owners fan relationship. The players definitely deserve much much more.
