It's also demonstrably untrue since American products like the Apple Ipod and even symbols of American consumerism like McDonalds do well there.

Those are the exceptions to the rule.

So basically you are asserting that your position is unfalsifiable. There are many more "exceptions to the rule" like them, american branded clothing goods are very popular as well. If nationalism were the issue, there shouldn't be so many exceptions to the rule. The reality is that products that appeal to the Japanese' values as well as suit Japanese lifestyle do well, those that do not, do not. The XBox brand has never really matched these values, and having a few members of the declining jRPG genre is not enough to make it so.

Name 5 poplular american brands in japan and you cant include McDonalds, Apple, Levi, and Windows.

FIne: Harley Davidson, Coca-Cola, Google, Abercrombie, Starbucks, American beers (Japan is the biggest importer), American furniture, Jack Daniels.

More exceptions to the rule.

Let's save time.  The Japanese simply love many exports from both US and Europe and they love many aspects of our culture, films, music, etc.  All the while retaining their own local culture.

The 360 is the exception, not the other way round.  They just don't like the bulk of the titles on it, I suspect the idea of paying for Live simply doesn't work well in the region and for various historic reasons the Xbox brand is simply poor in the region overall.

You are going to get nowhere arguing the Japanese don't like or invest in external products/culture because they absolutely do, sometimes to a fairly crazy degree.

But, locally, no matter how hard it is for you to accept it, the 360 and it's titles, the Xbox brand itself and most popular western genres just ain't that attractive and there's nothing to say they have to like it so far as I can see.

You might as well argue we should all like JRPGs and Sushi and stop playing online FPS.

For the record I do like Sushi but am ambivalent to JRPGs but do enjoy online FPS, but mainly on a PC.

Ah variety.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
