It's also demonstrably untrue since American products like the Apple Ipod and even symbols of American consumerism like McDonalds do well there.

Those are the exceptions to the rule.

So basically you are asserting that your position is unfalsifiable. There are many more "exceptions to the rule" like them, american branded clothing goods are very popular as well. If nationalism were the issue, there shouldn't be so many exceptions to the rule. The reality is that products that appeal to the Japanese' values as well as suit Japanese lifestyle do well, those that do not, do not. The XBox brand has never really matched these values, and having a few members of the declining jRPG genre is not enough to make it so.

Name 5 poplular american brands in japan and you cant include McDonalds, Apple, Levi, and Windows.

FIne: Harley Davidson, Coca-Cola, Google, Abercrombie, Starbucks, American beers (Japan is the biggest importer), American furniture, Jack Daniels.

More exceptions to the rule.

Haha, unfalsifiable like I said. I could just keep listing them and you'd still call them "exceptions to the rule".

American cigarette brands, Disney, Warhammer, Magic: the Gathering, Star Wars.

Obviously Japanese are soo nationalistic that they won't buy an XBox but that ends as soon as they want to watch a Disney movie or smoke an American cigarette.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
