I just beat the game and was really impressed with it; the core gameplay is fresh and fast-paced, the level design is really good, the boss encounter are NUTS (even if they repeat), and the set-pieces are downright inspired. It can be hard at times, but it seems that the deaths you'll get are due to human error and not the game's. I played through it a second time and so far the weapons I've maxed out have been the Anti-Armor Pistol, the Boost Machine Gun, the Disk Launcher, the Laser Cannon, the Lock-On Laser, and the Shotgun.

It is short, but it seems Mikami stopped when he ran out of ideas instead of just padding the game with meaningless fluff. There are no unlockables except for the challenges
