I would go as far as saying that even the first Shrek is better than Wall-E and Up. |
You crazy man.
Shrek never gave me a reason to care about any of its characters. They were all wacky comedy fairy tale characters, and all one-dimensional. I got to watch WALL-E and the old guy from Up learn and change and grow, until they reached an understanding about the true meaning of love and friendship. I know Shrek was supposed to learn the same stuff too, but I didn't care about the characters. And "it's okay to be ugly" isn't as epic of a lesson as "letting go of the past," or "breaking out of your routine." Pixar owns awesome morals for all ages.
