Every tracking firm is typically around 85-95% (sold) to what Sony and others say they shipped. This time all of them, including VGCHartz, NPD, etc are at about 45% of what Sony says they shipped. So either Sony is stuffing retail (which I believe as I've seen tons in every store since launch) or all of the tracking firms are way low. Granted, the stuffing of retail very well may not be their fault as retailers may have way over purchased thinking it would be hotter than it is. This would also explain why SOA says they had to increase production as retail orders were higher than they thought as well. |
I aint missing any elephants my friend, it is just common sense. First, how did you know that it sold 45% according to NPD when NPD put a hold on publishing numbers in the same month MOVE was launched.
Second, if Sony is stuffing the channels, then why retailers are ordering more and Sony is planning to double proudction to meet retailers orders?
Finally, those are shipped numbers, my estimate is that move sold 1- 1.2 million units just for NA.
