Last Quarter Sony reported shipped numbers which were off from Vgchartz numbers and adjustments were made later on, nevertheless, people keeps coming up with stuffing the channels excuse. In the end, Vgchartz numbers are estimates based on sampling and Sony numbers are real counted shipped numbers to retailers. |
You're missing the massive elephant in the room.
Every tracking firm is typically around 85-95% (sold) to what Sony and others say they shipped. This time all of them, including VGCHartz, NPD, etc are at about 45% of what Sony says they shipped.
So either Sony is stuffing retail (which I believe as I've seen tons in every store since launch) or all of the tracking firms are way low. Granted, the stuffing of retail very well may not be their fault as retailers may have way over purchased thinking it would be hotter than it is. This would also explain why SOA says they had to increase production as retail orders were higher than they thought as well.
