Alot of people in here have been talking about game sales, but game sales really had very little impact on why krome was forced to shutdown.

Krome suffered from problems with the strength of the Australian dollar a weakening US dollar -- which meant they couldn't compete financially with American developers. Publishers became more and more frightened to take risks, as such alot of them cancelled projects, or worse made small developers compete for projects.

In the end Krome found it self unable to get enough new projects to survive.

Anyway -- now that krome has shutdown how many Australian developers are left?

umm there is a heap of Iphone devolopers including Firemint who are regarded the best on Iphone

one of the biggest selling games out of an australian own studio is My pony from an Melbourne studio as well as Bioshock from 2K marin. there is one doing AFL Live 2011 due next year and there are a few more like visceral games who make Dead Space another big seller.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong
