LOL, good luck to them on that. Especially when the hype of this thing starts to wear off after December's over. It's not going to last long.

But of course. The Wii was just a fad, after all.

Yeah, keep defending garbage products like that & Kinect. All I know is that they came four years too late into this gen, & I don't think that it's going to make a huge impact in the long run.
Enjoy all those shovelware games. LOL.

Not sure about defending Kinect, seeing as I have no current plans on purchasing it, but the idea that hype will just randomly disappear is pre-2007. Especially for these kinds of things. I've lost count of how many times I've seen people say the Wii's hype would vanish. It's 2010 and the Wii's sales have only recently put it in last place in sales, after practically outselling the 360 and PS3 combined throughout it's life.

That's because most of those that bought a Wii aren't real gamers (most of them were casuals/non-gamers) who don't know what the heck a good game is. Do you honestly think real gamers like myself want to play games such as Wii Fit, Cooking Mama, etc.? I don't think so. I can do all those things in real life. Give people a few days to a week, tops, & they'll want to go back to playing good games with a regular controller.

I suppose that depends on your definition of "real gamer". Seems to be most of the controversy around that these days . . . as far as "hardcore" gamers go, I think we'll have to wait and see about what they'll do. "Casual" gamers are a whole different matter. Using a friend of mine as an example, she got the Wii and plays it on and off a few times a month. Sure, the game is Wii sports, but when I showed her Halo for the first time she couldn't even move and shoot at the same time. Her coordination for video games isn't that good, which is understandable given that she's never played either a shooter or even a game that requires two joysticks.
But she's great at Wii Sports bowling, and in the end it came down to the accessibility, ease, and addictiveness of playing with the Wiimote. Without a controller, for gamers like her it mind as well be a perfect match-- she can play the game without needing to worry about any confusing joysticks or buttons at all. Its all intuitive, assuming that it works anyway. Thats the kind of game non-gamers will play. Thats the kind of people Microsoft is targetting. Thats the kind of person who will buy it and love it, regardless of if there are that many good games.

I don't believe that your last sentence is correct for the "casuals" or even for your friend.
Do you really think these casual-Wii-sports-bowlers will spend ca 300 bucks for XB360 and Kinect, if the games arent fun? I mean, if the Kinect games are just WiiFit, WiiSports, Just Dance clones without adding something interresting and new, no one will spend that much money for "The new thing".
Without system-seller games, Kinect will not succeed in the end, imho.
