Kinect is part of next generation. Why make a new system when the current system is going well? Xbox Live launched two years before the launch of the Xbox Live. XBox Live has been the main success story of console gaming: introducing popular  online console gaming. Dreamcast online bombed and did not work on dial up. Improved Broadband speeds has made online console gaming possible. Online console gaming continues to grow in popularity. Kinect does not need a controller and it relies upon a person's body movement to control a game.

Casual gamer market will increase with mass marketing and convince more people (young and old) into buying Kinect and XBox 360. 360 pushes towards 70 million consoles as it extends its user base and captures.

$500,000,000 and money spent on Kinect is a small price to pay to capture the casual gamer market.

The Wii needs an upgrade to compete with the HD gamer audience.  PS3 has implemented its own motion device to capture the casual gamer market. The Wii is being attacked on two fronts: casual and hardcore by the HD twins.

Move over Wii: Kinect has arrived and has something unique to offer to  XBox 360 gamers. Motion control revolution continues with Kinect and PS Move. Who really needs a PC when you own an XBox 360?

So you are one of these guys that will want to eat their own words after holiday sales, i think.

Don't forget:

Wii still has, and will have the biggest userbase this gen, esp for the casuals. And Wii is less expensive.

The motion-controlled games libary for Wii is bigger and will be, even if Kinect would be a huge success. Revolution? With Just-Dance-copy, Wii-Fit-copy, Wii sports-copy and EYe-pet-copy?

That's the Revolution every king is afraid of, ROFL!
