They are spending 1 billion dollars on Kinect and WP7 in the next 3 months alone. Sony was right, they can't compete with that.

This is actually a very interesting discussion:  Sony's advertising budget for 2008 was ~5 Billion.  About 4 times as large as Microsofts.

So it would appear that Sony COULD compete with that budget for the Playstation division, but they choose not to.


wow, they have too many products to market it seems. I believe most of that money is spent on Sony pictures.

Well unlike some in this thread, I don't think advertising is bad (not insinuating you do, but others appear to). I'd be real interested in knowing what the "It only does everything" campaign is costing Sony and I'm REALLY interested in why they didn't support MOVE with a bigger ad campaign.

But I digress, sorry don't want to derail the thread.
