That makes no sense, for a store to be sold out before a console launches every single shipped unit has to have been sold already (pre orders) meaning anyone who wants to buy it without a pre-order can't, which means automatic shortages, unless the whole sold out thing is just pure BS

which is what can happen when you do a hardware launch with an almost simultaneously world-wide release.

It also happened with the 360, was out of stock almost permanently in the UK from November 05 to January 06. 

The only way to be sold out on pre-orders is to have a shortage, why do these people think they can eat their cake and have it too?
