Apparently the delay is because Sony required that the game need firmware 3.5.
"Like I said it is manufacturing issues. I had it confirmed today.
The problem arose when SCE mandated SDK 350 on all games releasing after after October, GT5 was about to go gold running on SDK 341, but it has been delayed by around a week so that they can update to SDK 350. This has caused a big headache for the manufacturing side, given how big this game is missing the gold date by even a week can cause a months worth of delay as slots are already taken up at this time of year for Blu-ray movies and such. So Sony had to find a 3 week slot big enough to make 7m copies of this and get them shipped out.
If you want to blame anyone, I would direct it at the pirates and hackers, SCE never had any real SDK restrictions before firmware 3.41 was compromised."

The bolded is pure utter complete BS. Sony and PD are to blame for not planning their schedule to apply this update, they must have known for 3 months that they were planning to implement this restriction.

Though, 3 months ago the PS3 wasnt hack yet, let alone firmware 3.41. Correct me if im wrong but I believe firmware 3.41 was hack very recently. In any case, I wouldnt bet this is the real reason for the delay.

There was a lesser hack released back in March 2010 and various other things circulating in the background since then. Sony have known for a long time they were to implement a firmware check on their games I assure you.

Ok, didnt knew that. Though, 3.41 was hacked recently, right? What your thought on that.

It's likely 3.50 will be hacked too eventually, the floodgates have been opened it's down to whether the hackers want to pursue it now. It is getting a bit lame though when anything that happens with Sony firmware is supposedly all hackers fault now. They got rid of Linux to stop selling PS3's on bulk (at a loss) as cheap arrays of processing power. They got rid of unlicensed controllers to make more money on their own products. Assuming this is true about the delay then they've delayed their biggest title of the year for what in my mind is an effort of pissing into the wind the likely good it will do.
