If true, PSP will get a significant boost in sales. With that price drop the PSP would be cheaper than the DS Lite. It won't be able to get close to DS's sales of course, but its' sales will definitely increase very much.
Overall, it makes sense to me. Cutting the price now ensures that the PSP can have a last good holiday season before the PSP2 arrives.
