I understand what you mean but Case Closed is one of those animes which I feel doesn't need a main plot. You could watch each episode without knowing the backstory. I think they just added that central conflict to keep fans interested in the long run. Otherwise each episode can stand on its own. Like scoobey doo and other shows. However one piece and naruto ar another story.
