? The only RPG they share is Oblivion, and that was a launch PS3 game......by the time it came out, everyone who wanted it, played it, basically. And what did Eterna Sonata sell, with an install base of 15 million? 180k. What about Folklore? 130k on an install base of 8 million. These are the only real numbers you have when it comes to RPG comparisons between the two systems. And after you do the calculation, you'll see that if the trends continue, the PS3 would sell almost twice as many RPGs. |
Currently the 360 is selling more rpgs because it has more rpgs and they tend to do well, thats what I meant. As for multi-platform rpgs selling more on 360 I was talking about Oblivion, Enchanted Arms (not the greatest example) and Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
You have to explain the comparision of eternal sonata and folklore. Why are they the only real numbers? Eternal Sonata and folk lore are different types of rpgs. Folk lore is more of an action adventure with rpg elements while Eternal Sonata is turn based rpg which allows you to move your character during that characters turn.
As for the install base means little, if a game sells it sells. I could sell 20k copies of a game on a console that has an install base of 30k. That means my game sold to 66.6 percent of gamers with that console. Sure the attach rate is high but the actual number of games sold is low, so whats the point. The developers of games look to see if the games make a profit or sell alot, attach rate is secondary.
