We have heard the UK-retailer Game talk about Kinect shortages and the need to preorder this device some time ago. A lot of people called BS on this one and it was just a marketing-coup by MS and Game.

Apparently, the situation might be more real than we thought. Gamestop just stopped taking preorders for Kinect. You can only preorder Kinect with a new console, but not the sensor-bar as a standalone.

The same happened to Newegg.com. The sensor is "sold out" already. Even the Kinect 4GB bundle and the Kinect 250GB bundle are out of stock.

So what do you guys think? Is this still a marketing move or is Kinect actually selling well. Stop taking preorders hurts the retailers business, so I have a hard time believing in a marketing move by them. Maybe MS undershipped the device, but that would be stupid, because they NEED the holiday season for Kinect.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
