Guy On Scooter Misses Elevator, Rams Doors Until Plummeting Down The Shaft

Didnt the guy on the scooter see the elevator already going down so why did he keep ramming into it?? And the elevator door is chrome so you can see the reflection of the people in the back behind the scooter guy just staring at him and still didnt react much when he dropped down.
