If this is a murder trial, wtf does it matter if they were a gay couple or not?
Because being gay brings shame to him and to the royal family but being a murderer doesn't.

As you can see from my later post, I understand the social implications to a saudi/arab male. However, what I don't understand is why a western court is even discussing his sexual preference in a murder trial.
Because it matters.
If he was gay, he could get killed for it by the islamic law which is the sharia and is the normal law in saudi arabia.
Well he did kill someone, so if he manages to get off with just a pat on the back in the West, maybe the Arabs will give him a proper punishment (though for different reasons).
Islamic law also would get him killed for what he did even if he wasn't gay but that's something doesn't apply to the royal family sometimes. The same goes for stealing, rape and unlawful acts, they become forgivable when the rich commit a crime. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he doesn't want to be proven gay just not to bring shame or disgrace to the family.
