Because being gay brings shame to him and to the royal family but being a murderer doesn't.

As you can see from my later post, I understand the social implications to a saudi/arab male. However, what I don't understand is why a western court is even discussing his sexual preference in a murder trial.


Because it matters.

If he was gay, he could get killed for it by the islamic law which is the sharia and is the normal law in saudi arabia.
