In a game, I've yet to hear a difference between DPL II and DD 5.1 or DTS.
I mean, there's a difference but you won't notice it.
The best sound I experienced was in Tales of Symphonia on Gamecube, as it's heavily used in combat for example, and it's pretty noticeable where your characters are for example.
And my subwoofer never got used in any game, so I think DPL II is enough for games.
Surround sound is poorly used in games anyway, and you need a well calibrated system to really enjoy it, which few people do anyway.
As a matter of fact, it's true that DPL is slightly more than stereo (it's 3.0), but DPL II is another beast that actually delivers 5.1 sound.
The demo of Uncharted even has DTS, and it didn't make a difference. I'm overreachin, as the ambiant sound is subtle in Uncharted. Anyway, you can't really compare, that makes no sense, like with movies.
