well....

Microsoft better hope Nintendo doesn't cut the price of the Wii a few weeks before Kinect comes out, because that will KILL Kinect sales.  Parents would see a $ 150 Wii versus a $ 300 Kinect bundle, and guess which one they will buy....

especially in this economy

I think the only reason Nintendo would NOT cut the price of the Wii to ruin the Kinect launch, is if Nintendo is confident Kinect will fail even without Nintendo cutting the price of the Wii.

....in fact, if Nintendo doesn't cut the price of the Wii in a couple weeks, I think the reason will be what I just said....because Nintendo CAN afford a price cut

It would be especially damaging if MS advertises the price of the Kinect bundle for $ 300 in TV commercials, and then Nintendo immediately cuts the price of the Wii just before the Kinect launch.

Kinect would be dead....end of story.

if Kinect does fail....then nothing really happens

except 360 hardware boost won't happen, that's all

Have to agree here.  I could totally see Nintendo cutting the price to $150 this holiday season.  One, I'm sure Nintendo could afford it.  And two, Nintendo will probably feel they need to cut the price.  Not only to cut into Kinect's success, but also because they have been behind MS and Sony 3 weeks in a row.

And if it fails, it probably won't hurt MS too much.  Definitely a hit to the ego, though.  But, after Kinect, there's not too much MS could do to keep sales as high as they have been.  Wii will still have the family friendly appeal, as well as being the cheapest of the systems.  While PS3 will still have that $199 sweet spot to reach.
