I'd personally have reported the missing device.
I'm not a fan of the iPod Touch because it's such a basic device. It's by no means a bad device and is great for an end-consumer but I like to tinker and hack and screw around with my devices. If you do go for an iPod Touch I'd recommend listening to Mistershine.
